An alternative to WeTransfer for confidential files.
WeTransfer is the quickest way to get a large file to somebody, and for ordinary files it is fine. It is a Dutch company, owned since 2024 by the Italian company Bending Spoons, so this is not a story about American law. Binadit Receive is made for the files you would not put in a public transfer service: it encrypts them in the sender's browser, on a page at your own address, and only your own colleagues can receive.

What is different from WeTransfer
WeTransfer documents that files are encrypted during transfer and at rest, and that files uploaded from the European Union are stored in the EU. That is sound for ordinary files. For case files, payroll data or identity documents, offices want more: encryption before the file leaves the sender's computer, a password that travels separately and that nobody can recover, the certainty that a file can only go to an address on your own domain, and an overview of every transfer with the option to revoke it. That is what Receive does.
WeTransfer, and what replaces it in Binadit Workspace
Binadit Receive is part of Binadit Drive: a page on your own address where clients, counterparties and applicants hand you files.
Receiving files from outside
- What we run instead
- Binadit Receive: the sender opens your link, chooses your colleague and drops files or a whole folder.
- Engineering note
- No account, no app and no attachment in the mail.
Encryption
- What we run instead
- Names and contents are encrypted in the sender's browser before upload. The server only ever stores ciphertext.
- Engineering note
- It uses the open age format. The password is never stored or mailed and cannot be recovered by an administrator, or by us.
Large files
- What we run instead
- Up to 100 files and 10 GB per transfer, uploaded in pieces that resume after a dropped connection.
- Engineering note
- A whole folder can be dropped at once.
Retention
- What we run instead
- Kept for 1 to 30 days, 14 by default, and then deleted automatically.
- Engineering note
- You choose the period.
Who can receive
- What we run instead
- Only addresses on your own domains. A sender cannot send to a private address or to a typo.
- Engineering note
- Your administrator lists the domains.
Oversight
- What we run instead
- Your administrator sees every transfer with its size, expiry and delivery status, and can revoke it.
- Engineering note
- File names stay encrypted, for the administrator too.
Sending files to others
- What we run instead
- A Drive sharing link to a file or a folder that expires when you choose, 30 days at most.
- Engineering note
- Part of Binadit Workspace, with the same login as your mail.
Licence
- What we run instead
- Included with Binadit Drive. No licence per user or per sender.
- Engineering note
- It works whether or not you sync files with Drive.
How we migrate off WeTransfer
Transfers are temporary by design, so there is no archive to move out of WeTransfer. Switching means your clients get a new address to send to.
-
Before the move
Receive is set up on your domain
Receive comes with Binadit Drive. We set up your domains, the colleagues who may receive and the retention period with you.
-
Side by side
Your Receive address goes where the old link was
On your website, in mail signatures and in engagement letters. Transfers that are still running in the old service simply expire there.
-
Switch day
The old service is switched off
Nothing has to be migrated. You cancel the old subscription once the last running transfer has expired.
Binadit Workspace is quoted per company, because the number of mailboxes, the storage and a possible server of your own differ each time. Ask for a demo and you get a quote with it.

Binadit Workspace is more than this one piece
Mail, calendar, files, documents, meetings and scheduling work together and share one login. These are the other pieces.
- Mail and calendar A mailbox with calendar and contacts on your own domain, in the webmail or in the mail program you already use. Shared mailboxes, two-step verification, and SPF, DKIM and DMARC prepared per domain.
- Drive Your files on a server in the Netherlands, synchronised with your computer. Team folders, sharing links that expire, versions and a trash.
- Office Documents, spreadsheets and presentations in the browser, edited together, on files that stay on Drive.
- Meet Video meetings from your calendar. Guests join in the browser, without an account and without installing anything.
- Book A booking page for every mailbox. Customers pick a time, and the appointment lands in your calendar with a Meet link.
- Northmail Our own free mail program for macOS and Windows, laid out like classic Outlook. Works with Workspace, Exchange and Gmail.
- Why this matters now The article: your email is GDPR-compliant today. Will it still be next year?
- binadit.work Binadit Workspace itself: what is included, the comparison with Microsoft 365, Google Workspace and Proton, and the downloads.
